We held “Winter Workshop on Neural Circuitry” with five other labs on Feb 19-20, 2019 in Riverheim, Gapyeong. Participated labs are the labs of Chihye Chung (Konkuk U), Daesoo Kim (KAIST), Greg Suh (KAIST), Hyosang Lee (DGIST) and Han Kyung Choe (DGIST), who are actively engaged with research in the neural circuit field. We had exciting presentation, discussion and networking times.
K-Lab’s former intern, Changgon (SNU Chem 14-19), entered Cha University School of Medicine at the top of his class–with a full scholarship for the entire four years! Congratulations, and good luck, Changgon!

Dong-Jun and Dong-Yoon won Excellent Poster Awards from 2018 workshop of Program in Neuroscience. Congratulations!!
Sung-Yon won Young Researcher Award from National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF). NRF and Elsevier worked together to award 10 young researchers this year, with the aim of acknowledging research achievement with high impact in each field.

Many members of K-Lab attended SfN 2018 (in San Diego) and had exciting times! K-Lab presented three posters, led by Dong-Jun, Kyunghoe, Dong-Yoon and Minyoo, all of which were crowded with neuroscientist colleagues in the field.
Dong-Jun–one of the most productive student in the lab, also the student rep of the lab–married a graceful and talented lady today. Congratulations and best wishes to him and his family!
Sieun, a first-year grad student in K-Lab and an alum of Yonsei University (Psychology and Systems Biology) receives a graduate student scholarship from Kwanjeong Educational Foundation, which will financially support her for the next two years. Huge congratulatulations to Sieun!!
Three outstanding students from “SKY” universities (Seoul National, Korea and Yonsei) joined K-Lab as PhD students. Minyoo, Sieun and Myungmo share in common that they double-majored in neuroscience-related disciplines. All three of them already significantly contributed to the ongoing research since their internship periods. Notably, Myungmo was with K-Lab since its beginning–he spent a year at Hyungbae Kwon’s lab at Max Planck Florida before joining the lab. Congratulations to all three future neuro-rock-stars!
K-labbers celebrated the end of 2017 at SY’s house. Everyone worked and studied very hard, and growed a lot as a neuroscientist. We are excited for the next year, as we will further the progresses in the well-running projects and may see them bearing fruits!
